Profile overview
Yumichika's fixation on beauty is more than a running joke. Beauty provides a private standard inside a squad whose public standard is strength, allowing him to judge people and situations without surrendering his individuality. The same independence becomes secrecy when he believes his genuine power would make him less acceptable to the group he chose.
His loyalty to Ikkaku is expressed through discretion rather than speeches. Yumichika follows him into Squad 11, understands the reason behind his hidden Bankai and becomes angry when Ikkaku risks dying for the secret. Each man protects a concealed strength to preserve the same home.
Yumichika Ayasegawa is the fifth seat of Squad 11 and Ikkaku Madarame's longtime companion from Rukongai. He presents himself as a narcissistic melee fighter devoted to beauty, but his Zanpakuto is actually a Kido-type weapon named Ruri'iro Kujaku. Because Squad 11 prizes direct physical combat, Yumichika deliberately calls it by the disliked name Fujikujaku to keep its real release hidden.
