Profile overview
Mard Geer turns Tartaros's worship of Zeref into an administrative system. He treats demons as authored beings with a single collective purpose and regards individual lives as disposable material for fulfilling the creator's wish. His elegance makes that instrumental worldview colder rather than less violent.
Face is built around an asymmetry: remove the world's magic while preserving demonic Curses. The plan does not prove Curses morally or naturally superior; it manufactures a battlefield on which only Tartaros retains its main source of power.
Mard Geer is an Etherious demon created from one of Zeref's books and the acting master of the dark guild Tartaros. He calls E.N.D. the guild's true master while ruling its Nine Demon Gates from the floating headquarters Cube. Mard Geer directs the assault on the Magic Council and the attempt to activate Face, a network of weapons designed to eliminate magic across the continent. Because Etherious demons use Curses rather than ordinary magic, he expects Tartaros to dominate the world that remains and awaken E.N.D., the demon created to kill Zeref. When Lucy summons the Celestial Spirit King, Mard Geer fights the king and transforms Cube's population with Alegria. Natsu, Sting and Rogue later confront him before Gray joins the decisive battle with newly acquired Devil Slayer Magic.
