Profile overview
Suzaku believes a just result reached through illegitimate means will reproduce the harm it claims to end. Joining Britannia is therefore an attempt to change the occupying system through recognised authority rather than armed rebellion.
The principle is sincere and compromised. Institutional obedience gives him opportunities unavailable to most Japanese citizens, but it also places extraordinary skill in service of the hierarchy he opposes. Duty can function as reform, denial and self-punishment at the same time.
Suzaku Kururugi is the son of Japan's last prime minister who serves Britannia as an Honorary citizen, seeking reform from within an empire whose violence his service helps sustain.
